About the Pet Cancer Foundation

The Pet Cancer Foundation’s vision is to increase life expectancy and improve the quality of life of pets diagnosed with cancer. Estimates suggest that 12M dogs and cats are developing cancer every year, roughly 6x the number of humans getting cancer yearly within North America.

We need to do more for our furry friends, and we're building a large team of distributed, animal-loving passionate volunteers to help them and their families. Our team requires experienced editors with a relevant degree and experience within the biological life sciences, to ensure our pet cancer content is of the highest standards. That's where and how you can help us.

About the Position

As our volunteer Editor, you will be responsible for the editorial review of drafted content articles, as well as validating all facts, claims, and medical information within to ensure the accuracy and proper contextualization of all dog and cat health-related information. Additionally, the Editor will contribute to the verification and validation of the source material utilized to ensure our references and citations come from the most reputable authors and publications.

As an organization focused on the disease of cancer in our pets, we have our work cut out for us in many ways. For our content, the medical information we publish must be unassailable, as we work to build public trust and become the authoritative source regarding animal cancers, for pet families. This is a project-based role with a timeline of approximately 6-8 months, at which time you can depart, or agree to another similarly timed project.

This includes checking the accuracy of the information contained in those visuals and ensuring they align with the overall style of the content.
